Champs Print E-mail

Dear Swimmers and Parents,

This letter is to announce registration for League and Division Championships.   League Champs is for the top eighteen swimmers in the League, in each event plus two alternates.  This is determined at a seeding meeting for this purpose, which utilizes a list of the top 50 swimmers in each event from the whole league.  These swimmers compete at LaSalle University against other swimmers from the Sal League.   Also, the top two relays from each age group may go to Leagues from each team.  The coaches make this decision.   They will determine the relays and they will select the swimmers that will go to League Championships.  The coaches may elect not to send a relay to League Championships if they feel that the team has a better chance at winning an award at Division Championships.  Swimmers must have competed in a combination of two dual meets during the 2009/2010 seasons to be eligible for League Champs.

Anyone on our team, including pre-team may compete in Division Champs.  This Championship competes against the other five teams in our Division.  The only requirements for Division Championships are that you sign up for them.  The coaches will determine the relays by putting together teams from the swimmers attending the meet. You may select whatever events your child wishes to swim in the individual strokes. Diving counts as one event.  You may not however, compete in events in Division Championships that qualified for Leagues or swim a relay in a stroke that qualified for League Champs with the exception being the IM.

Every child may swim three individual strokes and two relays in any combination at League and Division Champs. For example, if a swimmer qualifies for one individual event at League Championships, they may compete in Division Championships in the other two individual events.  The swimmers in the relays will be assigned by the coaches for both Championships.  If your child is interested in being in the relays please indicate this on the form.  This is not a guarantee that they will be in them, but the coaches try to do their best to accommodate the swimmers.   Please discuss the choices with the coaches if you wish to determine where your child will have the best chance of winning an award.

There will be no registration fee for both League and Division Champs; however you must turn in the registration form to be eligible.  You will be billed if you sign up and do not show up at Champs without a reasonable excuse such as sickness, as we are charged by the League for every entry. The completed forms may be placed in Karen Palombo’s folder no later than January 22nd.  However, it is helpful if they are turned in as soon as possible as we need to enter each swimmer and their events in the computer.   Please be prepared to help at one of the meets that your child is swimming.  No entry will be accepted without parental participation. Participation from each team is required by the League.  These are the dates the Championships are being held.
