Please visit the SAL web page to view league records. www.suburbanaquatic.org Practice and TrainingTypically practice sessions are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 5:00 - 7:30 depending on the age group at Simmons Elementary School on Babylon Road. Practices start at 5:30 in mid November. Practices are split according to ability and age levels. Schedules will be available monthly. The assigned practice times must be adhered to as this is done to maximize the benefits for all swimmers. Typically younger swimmers practice 45 minutes or 1 hour and older swimmers practice 1-1/2 hours. We have an excellent coaching staff that combines their expertise and experience to motivate and challenge swimmers to reach their potential in the sport of swimming. Our coaches have many years of experience between them and all are equally adept at coaching the various age groups. They look forward to working with your swimmers. Practices will be designed to challenge each swimmer with a workout planned to extend their capabilities. Emphasis will be placed on stroke mechanics and cardiovascular fitness. Drills will be designed to improve the level of proficiency and the stroke mechanics of each swimmer. In order to improve to any degree, the coaches recommend that swimmers attend at least 2 practice sessions per week. Winter swimming is a real recreational bargain, for the enrollment fee and parent participation, members can swim from September to February. Also, for a small additional fee the season can be extended into May through the clinics that we offer. Our talented staff will endeavor through stroke, turn and drill work to challenge the swimmers to constantly strive for improvement in technique and speed. Swimming is unique in that it is both an individual and team sport. This provides opportunity for growth both on an individual and team level. HHAA DivingHHAA will be offering a diving team for the 2007/2008 season. Diving takes discipline, a good work ethic and the willingness to practice. Diving practice will take place three nights a week during community swim. There will be an additional fee for diving insurance. We also will have a limited number of divers and they must sign up for their practice time. Potential divers should have the minimum skill level of being able to dive both forward and backwards off the board. Also, divers should be able to go to the bottom of the pool and resurface. We are very excited to offer diving again. Simmons Elementary School is our home pool. Swimmers MUST be registered and rostered 10 days prior to a meet to swim in that meet. Swimmers MUST register to be in the pool at practice. |
